Why choose sugar for a brazilian or hollywood, over wax?

published on April 8th 2023

When it comes to hair removal, there are many options available, and choosing the right method for you can be tricky and put you on a journey of discomfort, burns, and rashes.

Why sugar is kind to you, your skin and the environment!

Firstly sugar is a natural and gentle ingredient that has been used for centuries for hair removal. In contrast, wax contains synthetic materials and chemicals that can cause skin irritation, redness, and even burns. Sugar paste is made from sugar, lemon juice, and water, which means it is much more gentle on the skin and less likely to cause any adverse reactions.

Another advantage of sugar is that it is applied at room temperature, which means there is no risk of burning the skin. Wax, on the other hand, is heated and applied hot to the skin, which can be painful and uncomfortable and not a good choice if you are diabetic.

Sugar paste is applied in the direction of hair growth and removed in the opposite direction, which also helps to minimise discomfort.

Did you know that sugar paste is water-soluble? this means it can be easily removed with warm water from your skin, plus if it lands on the floor or your clothes, it is easily removed. Wax requires solvents to remove it, which can be harsh on the skin, cause dryness, spoil your clothes or damage your floor.

Sugar paste leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth, it exfoliates dead skin cells, while wax can sometimes leave a sticky residue behind, ever seen those patches of darkness where the material of your clothing has stuck to the residue left by waxing?

Finally, sugar paste is more environmentally friendly than wax, as it is made from natural ingredients that are biodegradable. Wax, on the other hand, contains synthetic materials that are not eco-friendly and can contribute to pollution.

Sugar is a much kinder and gentler method of hair removal, natural, gentle, and less likely to cause skin irritation or burns. If you are looking for a more natural and eco-friendly way to remove unwanted hair, sugar may be the perfect option for you.
