Thank you for helping Abby’s Heroes

published on January 4th 2020

Thank you to all our clients who helped us raise £580 for the wonderful charity Abby’s Heroes https://www.abbysheroes.org/. We loved running the raffle from the Liberty Advent Calender, we had 3 clients who won twice. Maybe we will do it again next Christmas. What do you think?

I was a lucky client who won twice! But I was more than happy to support this incredible charity.

A friend of mine has had first hand experience of the amazing support from Abby’s hero’s. I asked permission to share her story.

‘Wednesday 21st August 2019 George’s Hepatoblastoma was confirmed. Our energetic, strong, asymptomatic two year old had stage 3 liver cancer.’

Understandably, my friend hasn’t been able to work since her son’s diagnosis, having another young son and a partner who has taken multiple unpaid leave days to support them, things have been tough.

‘Abby’s heroes was started in memory of Abby, by her mum Sally. Abby was treated on Piam Brown Ward at Southampton, on 2 separate occasions her cancer returned’.

My friends washing machine had packed up, and through her social worker who knew they were struggling, they contacted Abby’s hero’s and the charity bought the family a new washing machine.

Just before Christmas the charity also sent the family a Christmas card with a £100 Tesco voucher ‘This takes away a weight I didn’t know I had.’

George is still under going treatment and awaiting further surgery, my friend has already raised nearly £300 for Abby’s hero’s and plans to do the 3 peak challenge to raise even more.

Sugarflicks has supported an incredible charity!
