Sugarflick specialise in intimate Hair Removal for both Men and Women. Sugarflick are experienced in Hollywoods, Brazilians and Boyzilians. As far as we know, we are the only Axiom Certified salon in Southampton, ie we are certified in male intimate hair removal, to remove hair from this area as pain free as possible. We have found that many insurance companies will not insure therapists without specific qualifications. We guarantee that we are fully insured for all our treatments and that our certificates are proudly shown on our treatment room wall. The majority of our clients state they experience a slower regrowth with sugaring because we get the really short ones out! plus we can get to areas some therapists cannot reach!

We are brilliant at all these treatments. You will not go back to strip wax after you have experienced a Sugarflick treatment.

MEN
Boyzilian, BSC, and other descriptions are just some of the names given to this treatment where all the hair is removed from the area that sits inside the boxer shorts/briefs. It is not as bad as you think! Don’t believe what you see in the media!…the therapist who rips off the strip so fast it makes you wince! We do not practice like this. There are many videos on the internet showing bad hair removal practice, you may be pleasantly surprised with our methods. Sugarflick video now on youtube. All our male clients who have experienced Sugarflick treatments and also other methods, state they were red for less time and they found it less painful.

Male Intimate Hair Removal – Boyzilians etc. Please note that it is extremely unlikley you will get aroused, but if you do, this is not a problem. Some clients have temporary physical arousal, this shouldn’t last long. However, if there is any inappropriate sexual behaviour, then you would be asked to get dressed and leave. We may also take any incident further. Please note we are not a sexual service, so please, only call about a Boyzilian if you are serious, we use iphone for all contact and do not delete any texts. We do not answer witheld numbers. We also keep all emails and forward any suggestive/explicit material to the police.

WOMEN
A treatment that is becoming ever more popular these days. Ladies are daring to have more exotic bikini treatments and are surprised at just how straight we get that landing strip! There are many different understandings of a “Brazilian” or a “Hollywood”. Our Brazilian is all the hair off apart from a strip of hair as wide or as narrow as you request, all hair removed from labia, underneath, round the back etc…Your call though, you let us know at the time exactly how much you want off. Some of our clients have informed us that other salons left all the underneath. This is not a brazilian. To remove hair from this area requires alot of experience and care. And yes, we do wear gloves and we are horrified that some practitioners don’t!!! We have a unique way to perform this treatment that saves you embarrassment and injury. Please don’t worry the procedure is totally different to any other way you may have experienced. Sorry but we do not do hearts or bolts of lightning but we can do a Las Vegas, that’s a hair free area with an added bit of sparkle!

Aftercare information is provided, at the salon or emailed to you at the time of booking. Please allow approx 10 minutes for a consultation on your first visit.

First timers – Pre-treatment advice for areas such as chest, groin, abdomen, or legs….please try and trim the hair to approximately 10mm. If you are unable to trim/clipper please let Sugarflick know when you book the appointment as trimming/clippering ads time to your session and may incur an extra charge for large areas ie back and front torso.

Please avoid sunbeds, sunbathing, massage, bath oils, moisturisers and exfoliation, 24 hours before or after a treatment and please do not shave or use depilatory creams in between treatments. Depilatory creams are designed to melt the hair and they contain chemicals. As with shaving they take the hair from the surface and make the hair and root stronger, therefore encouraging regrowth. It is a temporary “fix it” method and will undo all the work we do at Sugarflick. It is best to stick to one method of hair removal. Sugaring encourages finer and sparser re growth as it removes hair from the root. It is not uncommon to cancel your next appointment because the hair simply has not grown back as much as you thought it would!

Sugarflick’s aftercare is very important and we pride ourselves on our aftercare advice. After your treatment, that evening or the next day, it is great to have a warm bath adding natural sea salts, especially after a Brazilian or Boyzilian, Back or Front torso or a full body. Some treatments qualify for a free aftercare product. We advise you wear loose clothing to go home in as wearing a second skin of denim is just asking for trouble !!

For great results 2/3 days after your treatment, it is important to regularly exfoliate and moisturise your skin. This will also make the hairs weaker.

Time wasters are easily spotted We do not answer witheld numbers, so if you are calling from the office please leave a voicemail even if its just an email address or a phone number, you won’t have to announce to the whole office your future plans. How long does my hair have to be ?
Some hair as short as 5mm can be removed, however this is dependent on the treatment area and previous hair removal method. Hair removed for the first time, maybe more resistant, especially after shaving for many years.

Should you use other hair removal methods as well?
This is not recommended, as other treatments can damage the hair follicle. Also other treatments can be counter productive and reduce the effects of sugaring. As with all hair removal methods it is best to stick to only one and not mix and match.

How often do I have to come?
Again dependent on the individual and area treated. A rough guide is 4-6 weeks between appointments. The more treatments, the less you have to come back over time. When you visit we will be able to give a clearer guide. Regularly hydrating and exfoliating your skin, between sugaring treatments, is just as important as receiving treatment. You will receive the best results if your skin is healthy.

Will I get a reaction?
Some clients have had terrible reactions from other methods and will never look back after sugaring. Some are unaffected by any treatment. We are all different, what affects one person may not affect another. You are welcome to have a test patch done. Almost all clients state they were only red for a couple of hours after sugaring, not days ! Some clients do not go red at all.

Will I get ingrowing hairs?
Some factors for ingrowing hairs can be :-
Tight clothing eg. wearing tights, or tight clothing.
Skin not being cleaned before and after a treatment.
Lack of regular exfoliating, twice a week is recommended.
Your hair type can also be a factor, ie course hairs tend to cause more of a problem.
Being overweight and in the areas where the fat obstructs the growth of hair eg. between the thighs.
Dry skin so moisturising daily with a good moisturiser will help keep skin soft and allows hair to grow
through the skins surface more easily.

Is it painful?
Everybody’s pain threshold is different. You simply have to try it. A high percentage of clients state it’s less painful than other methods they have experienced. Many of our clients have stated they will never go back to their other methods. There is increased sensitivity if you have a hang over or drink lots of caffeine, some clients take a pain killer an hour before their appointment. Ladies – if your period is due it will hurt a little more than usual. If the skin is not pulled tight enough, it may hurt slightly more.

Do you give any discounts?
John Lewis, Southampton City Council, Police and the Fire Service, as well as all NHS staff now receive a 10% discount. We offer a 10% Student discount on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please note the discount is not in conjunction with any special offers. We reduce prices for some combinations. We usually put our special offers on www.gumtree.com. We do not charge for eyebrow tidy but we do not do this treatment on its own and please note it is eyebrow tidy only not a re-shape!

I work all week when will I get the time?
We offer “Early bird” and “late night” appointments. Please just ask.

What hours are you open?
Sugarflick operate from 81 Bedford Place from Monday to Saturday.
We work early and late everyday except Saturdays. We work all hours, just ask and if possible we will try an accommodate you as best we can.

I won’t have time to go home, shower and come back to town !
No problem, at 81 Bedford Place we have a shower. (Please make us aware is you wish to use the shower, ie you will need an extended appointment) and we have to arrange for slippers and a gown for you.

Do you have a separate waiting area ?
We are on the top floor of 81 Bedford Place and share the building with a cafe, a pilates studio and a gym. We have a seating area in our treatment room but we do not have a separate area. You are most welcome to use the Cafe “Room for Food” but they are only open 10 til 3.30pm, if Sugarflick keep you waiting we will remiburse any drink cost. Please ask for a receipt.

Do any staff in the building know what my treatment is?
Absolutely not. All bookings are direct through Sugarflick. We just share the same front door, that’s it.

How should I prepare for a treatment?
We attach a PDF when we email you, confirming your booking, so you are well prepared. Here is a brief guide.

Make sure the hair is long enough! We recommend at least 5mm for your first visit

Please make sure your skin is clean and preferably dry

Do not expose the skin to the sun or a sun bed 24 hours before a treatment

Do not apply moisturisers, creams, exfoliants or oils 24 hours before

Do not go to the gym or an aerobics class on the same day

Do not bathe in oils 24 hours before a treatment

Do not use any chemical depilatory creams such as veet or immac, they are nasty and will irritate your skin

No need to exfoliate for a couple of days before/after your appointment because the sugar removes dead skin cells and leaves the skin soft and smooth

What should I do after a treatment?
Please note the aftercare after sugaring is different and not as stringent as after Waxing treatments.

Please do not use a razor or depilatory creams between appointments, as this will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth skin

Do not expose the skin to the sun or a sun bed for 24 hours after a treatment

We recommend you bring / wear loose clothing for post treatments, dependent on which area is treated

Do not use deodorants for at least 6 hours after under arm treatments

Do have a warm shower or bath later and add natural bath salts but DO NOT have a hot bath or shower within 12 hours of having a treatment such as BSC, back, chest.

Do not use any chemical depilatory creams such as veet or immac inbetween treatments

We suggest you avoid perfumed soaps and products with chemical irritants on sugared skin for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid make-up for approximately 12 hours after a sugaring treatment on the face. For 24 hours, avoid self tanning moisturisers and creams containing chemical exfoliators such as – “alpha hydroxi acid”, beta hydroxi acid, salicylic acid or glycolic acid.

Will it stick to my clothes?
No, as sugar is water soluble it is easily removed from skin and clothing.

Is it like waxing ?
Two methods are used, the strip sugar (similar to the waxing method-but talc is applied to the skin not an oil) and we also use the sugarball method, as seen below. This is a ball of sugar, water and lemon, rolled over the hair and flicked pulling the hair from the root. Great for getting to difficult parts other methods cannot reach !

You must check with your Doctor if you suffer from any of the following:

If you are Diabetic, sugaring is often a preferred method as other methods may cause skin damage. *

Varicose Veins! – the majority of varicose veins can usually be treated. *

On medication such as Roaccutane. *

“Sensitive Skin” – Sugaring is safe to use on almost all hair and skin type – even extremely sensitive skin*. It is advisable to have a test patch done which is free. Sugar is a pliable paste made from natural ingredients, is not tested on animals and there are no unpleasant odours. It is so natural you could eat the paste, if you wished. One recent client tasted it saying it was like golden syrup !

* Check with your Doctor that the area is safe to be treated. Some consultations may mean a patch test 24 hours before the full treatment, patch tests are FREE.

Sugaring is the oldest method of removing body and facial hair; it has been used for centuries. It is totally safe to use on any hair and skin type – yes, even sensitive skin !! The ’sugar’ is a pliable paste made from pure natural ingredients, not tested on animals and is so natural you could eat it. It is water soluble and easily removed from skin and clothing.

With regular treatments, hair re-growth is finer and more sparce. For example if you come regularly during the winter by the summer you will probably only need one or two visits. Please go to the FAQ page for more information.
